Who is the Nature Nut?

I grew up in the Netherlands, I remember always being outside exploring with my friends, only until I heard the ear-piercing sound of my  Dad’s whistle, a sign to make it back home as fast as my legs could get me there.

I immigrated to Canada when I was 20 with my brother and parents. Life happened and I find myself  these last 22 years more in tune with nature then ever before, especially since I opened a daycare in my own home and have been able to share the wonders of nature with my young nature enthusiasts. Retired from daycare I now enjoy sharing my walks with adults of all ages.

I am a Mother of three grown children, all of them married as of summer 2014. One grandson, ( soon to be two grandsons) a nature nut in training…  He has  joined me  on most of my Friday Free Nature walks and every other walk or hike we do during the week. I love the great outdoors, local walks, trails and forest and  the dyke nearby. I discover something new everyday and would like to share my discoveries with people that have the same interest or want to learn about their natural surroundings.

Hobbies; gardening, foraging,  photography and working on my website. I am not a writer by any means , I am merely trying to get people interested in their surroundings by  offering free nature walks in our area of Panorama Ridge in Surrey BC. and writing about my experiences where ever I walk with my trusted canine companion.

The parks I frequent are: Joe Brown Park, Mud Bay Dyke, Serpentine Fen, Watershed Park, Burns Bog, Surrey Lake Park, Crescent Park,  Crescent beach, Redwood Park, Campbell Valley Regional Park, Tynehead Park to name a few… I hope you will join me soon and I promise you will learn something new at every walk on Friday!

My favorite quote from Richard Louvre; “TV steals time…. Nature amplifies it!” and David Suzuki’s;  “The more people know and learn about the environment.. the more they care” and John Muir’s,  “In nature one receives far more than one receives”
